Do you have flat dark spots on your skin? Do want to get rid of your freckles? Then we have some remedies for you.
The University of Maryland Medical Centre defines freckles as “flat, dark spots” which usually appear on the surface of the skin that is frequently exposed to the sunlight. Some people have them from birth. The fact is that they are harmless but they can make your skin look uneven.
Lemon is a famous bleaching agent. It can not only bleach your clothes and hair but it can also help bleach your skin. This is one of the reasons why it can effectively fade away those freckles. Here are some of the tricks you can do with the lemon to get rid of your freckles. Keep one thing in mind, it will require a lot of time and patience before you will get to your desired results.
You can use lemon in the following ways:
Method no. 1
Take a big sized lemon and roll it on a flat surface by applying pressure with your hand. Now cut thin slices of this lemon. Place these slices on the area of the skin where you have freckles and relax for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the slices and wash your face with lukewarm water.
Do not forget to use a good moisturizer after this procedure because lemon can make your skin dry.
You can repeat this process twice a week. It will take a month for the freckles to fade away.
Method no. 2
Buy some fresh lemons from the market. Roll the lemons on a flat surface and then squeeze them to get the juice out of them. Collect the juice in a bowl. You can take juice of 2 to 3 lemons. You can even buy the juice from the market, just check that it is pure and doesn’t contain any preservatives. Apply this juice directly to your problem area either with the help of a cotton ball or a brush. Wash your face after 15 to 20 minutes with cold water. You will have to try this remedy everyday for a month to get the best results.
Here is a lemon scrub you can use for freckles:
Lemon and Sugar Scrub
Take a fresh lemon and roll it on a flat surface, this will help loosen its juice. Cut it in half and sprinkle some granulated sugar on top of one of the halves. Now rub this on your freckles for at least 4 to 5 minutes and rinse with warm water. Use a clean towel to pat dry your skin. Apply a good moisturizer after using this scrub. You can use it once a week along with above mentioned remedies.
Remember lemon would not make the freckles disappear completely; it will just lighten them and make them less noticeable. Another important thing to take note of is that lemons work best on natural freckles. For freckles caused by the sun there are some other methods you can try.
Keep in mind that these remedies would only work if you will protect your skin from the sun. For minimum sun exposure always wear a sunscreen. Health Services at Columbia University suggests to use sunscreen with SPF 30.
Here are some other effective remedies for eliminating freckles:
Milk is very effective freckle eradicator. The key ingredient present in milk is lactic acid which can lighten the freckles and make them less noticeable. This is what you can do:
- Take some milk in a bowl, dab a cotton ball in it and apply it to your freckles. Rinse with cool water after 10 to 15 minutes.
- You can use the sour cream mask as well. Apply sour cream on the affected area and gently massage it. Keep it on for 15 minutes and then wash with cool water. You won’t need any moisturizer after applying this mask.
There are certain fruits that can help eliminate freckles. You can make a fruit mask with the help of kiwis and strawberries. Mash these fruits together and apply it to the areas where you have freckles. It will take 20 to 30 minutes for this mask to dry. Peel off this mask and wash your face with cool water. Apricots and cucumber can be substituted with kiwi and strawberries.
