First and foremost is to know how our skin gets tanned by barely staying in the sun for too long. It is when a defense mechanism is triggered as we stay in the sun for too long and a reaction takes place that causes our skin to tan. As we stand in the sun, our skin starts to release a pigment called melanin in order to save the DNA and the RNA from getting destroyed by the penetrating ultra-violet rays. However, this may be painful at times, with redness and in the end resulting as tanning of skin. In extreme cases of sunburn, the person may have to stay in the hospital, or else, it is easily treatable. One should wear protective clothing to save their skin from tanning.
